A Ghibli Wonderland in Bloom: Visiting Koriko Cafe Yeonnam This Spring

The Koriko Cafe Yeonnam branch has been on my Seoul cafe bucket list for quite some time, and finally, this Spring, I eventually got to tick it off the list. In this post, I am going to share the lovely experience and tell you why the blooming season is the perfect time to visit this Ghibli wonderland.

About Koriko Cafe: Stepping into Kiki’s World

Koriko Cafe is the official Studio Ghibli “Kiki’s Delivery Service” cafe. Inspired by the 1989 classic film, the cafe recreates the atmosphere of the town of Koriko, where 13-year-old witch-in-training Kiki settles down with her black cat, Jiji, to find her way in the world. As you approach the cafe, it feels as though the animated world has come to life—a space designed to evoke the same warmth and emotion found in the movie. Whether you are a die-hard Ghibli fan or just looking for a magical escape, it offers a “witch-like” happiness paired with sweet desserts. As of 2026, there are now two branches where you can experience this magic: the original in Yeonnam (Seoul) and a newer location in Jeju.

How to Get There

Finding this hidden gem is part of the adventure!

By Foot: It is about a 15-minute walk from Exit 3 of Hongik University Station (Line 2). The walk through the trendy alleys of Yeonnam-dong is quite pleasant.

By Bus: If you aren’t up for a long walk, head to Exit 2 and catch local bus Mapo05 at stop #14498. Get off at the Eden Jiu Apartment (에덴지우아파트) stop (#14576). The cafe is located just one minute away across the road.

Why Spring is the Magical Season at Koriko

Certainly, what you can expect from Koriko Cafe are those signature Studio Ghibli vibes—the rustic European-style architecture, the iconic red delivery bike, and Jiji’s silhouette everywhere. However, visiting during the blooming season offers something truly special.

On the cafe grounds, there is a massive magnolia tree that serves as the centerpiece of the garden. When it hits its peak, the white blossoms transform the Kiki paradise into an ethereal, snowy wonderland that perfectly complements the yellow walls of the cafe.

When to catch the peak? Magnolias in Korea generally reach their peak bloom from late March to early April. I visited on March 25th and caught the white magnolia at its absolute peak. Seeing those heavy white petals against a clear blue sky was a breathtaking sight.

To celebrate the season, the cafe also offers limited-edition treats like the Cherry Blossom Cookie Mug Tart (벚꽃 쿠키 머그 타르트) and the Cherry Blossom Bundt Cake (벚꽃 번트케이크), which are only available until the end of April!

Exploring the Menu: More Than Just Coffee

The menu is a treasure trove of character-themed details. Whether you want a light snack or a full brunch, there is plenty to choose from:

Desserts & Sweets

  • Bundt Cakes (8,000 won): Beautifully decorated small cakes. Flavors include Cherry Blossom, Chocolate Raspberry, Matcha, Mandarin, and Lemon.
  • Cookie Mug Tarts (9,200 – 9,500 won): These are served in adorable mugs featuring cat illustrations. I recommend the Sweet Potato or the seasonal Cherry Blossom.
  • Signature Mousse Cakes (19,800 won): If you want the ultimate photo op, go for the JIJI Mousse Cake (chocolate and dark cherry) or the Ribbon Mousse Cake (cherry).
  • Dutch Baby Pancakes: These skillet pancakes come in savory (Morning) or sweet (Creme Brulee, Banana Pecan) varieties.

Brunch & Specialty Drinks

If you’re hungry, the Brunch Set (19,800 won) includes a choice of Meat or Chicken Mushroom Cream Pie, a salad, and an Americano.

For drinks, the Signature Lattes are the stars:

  • Cherry Blossom Latte (7,500 won): A pink, iced seasonal delight.
  • Cotton Candy Latte (8,500 won): Topped with a massive blue cloud of cotton candy.
  • JIJI Ice (+1,000 won): You can add a cat-shaped coffee ice cube to any iced drink—it’s a must-try for the “cuteness factor.”

Pro Tips for Your Visit

Beat the Crowd: Visit in the morning on weekdays. It is much quieter, allowing you to truly relax and soak in the Ghibli soundtrack.

The Best View: The lighting in the morning is perfect for the second-floor seating areas. These spots offer the best vantage point for viewing the magnolia blossoms through the windows.

The Balcony: Since the spring weather is so pleasant, try to snag a seat on the balcony to enjoy the fresh air.

House Rules: Keep in mind there is a one drink per person requirement.

The “Photo” Drink: While I enjoyed a hot vanilla latte, I highly recommend ordering one of the drinks that comes with Kiki-themed decorations for your photos. I definitely won’t miss out on the Jiji ice for my next visit!

Final Verdict

Koriko Cafe Yeonnam is more than just a “themed” cafe; it is a nostalgic trip into one of the most beloved animated stories of all time. While it’s charming year-round, seeing it framed by white magnolia blossoms in the spring adds a layer of “magic” that makes the 15-minute walk from the station completely worth it. If you find yourself in Seoul during late March, make sure this Ghibli wonderland is at the top of your list.
