There’s a moment in early spring when Seoul shakes off the last of winter’s chill, and the air fills with a quiet magic. Before the iconic cherry blossoms take center stage, another floral pioneer makes a stunning, albeit brief, debut: the magnolia. With their elegant, sculptural petals in shades of pure white and soft pink, magnolias have a way of stopping you in your tracks, transforming ordinary corners of the city into scenes from a painting. If you’ve ever wanted to chase this ephemeral beauty, you’re in luck. We’ve scouted some of Seoul’s most picturesque spots where architecture, atmosphere, and magnolia blooms create pure magic.
🤍 The Best Time to Visit

In Korea, magnolia blossoms are typically at their prime from late March to early April. To give you a specific window, all the photos in this post were captured between March 28th and April 1st. These flowers bloom and fall quickly, so you’ll want to plan your trip precisely to catch them at their peak!
1. Ewha Womans University
Hangul: 이화여자대학교
Address: 11-1 Daehyeon-dong Seodaemun-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link
Ewha is stunning year-round, but it truly shines in the spring. Known for its gorgeous Gothic Revival architecture and sleek contemporary designs, the campus feels like a slice of Europe in the heart of Seoul. To my surprise, many of the thriving trees on these grounds are magnolias!

Walking through the campus when the blooming season hits is like walking through a dream. The sight of historic stone buildings framed by striking clouds of white petals is a picture-perfect scene that will stay in your heart for a long time.
2. Bukchon Hanok Village
Hangul: 북촌한옥마을
Address: 35 Hwa-dong Jongno-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link

Hidden within the winding alleys of this famous traditional village is a scene straight out of a period drama. For the best view, head toward Samcheongdong Korea Guest House. Here, you’ll find a stunning contrast between the dark tiled roofs of the Hanok (traditional houses) and the bright, elegant magnolia blooms. It is the epitome of Korean spring aesthetics.
3. Cilantro Coffee
Hangul: 실란트로커피
Address: 75-26 Guui-dong Gwangjin-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link

Tucked beside Seoul Children’s Grand Park, this cafe is a hidden gem. While the name suggests a focus on cilantro and vegetables (which they do use in very creative ways!), the real draw in spring is the second-floor terrace. A massive, mature magnolia tree from the neighboring house leans over the balcony, creating a natural canopy of flowers. Sitting here with a coffee under the dappled sunshine and white petals is pure magic.
4. Fjord
Hangul: 피요르드
Address: 305-10 Hangangno 1(il)-ga Yongsan-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link

Located in a neighborhood famous for its views of the N Seoul Tower, Fjord is a cafe that oozes hipster charm. The standout feature is the huge magnolia tree standing tall in the front yard. It perfectly complements the cafe’s cute facade, making it a favorite spot for photographers and coffee lovers alike.
5. Onesto
Hangul: 오네스토
Address: 24-5 Hangangno 2(i)-ga Yongsan-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link

Just a stone’s throw away from Fjord is Onesto, a charming Italian-style restaurant. Like its neighbor, Onesto boasts a beautiful outdoor seating area centered around a mature magnolia tree. The restaurant’s red and white structure provides a vibrant backdrop that makes the white blossoms pop. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic spring lunch!
6. Yeoksam Asia Tower
Hangul: 아세아타워
Address: 726 Yeoksam-dong Gangnam-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link

In the middle of the bustling, high-rise district of Gangnam, there is a magnolia gem hidden in plain sight. Located right near Yeoksam Station (Line 2) Exit 1, the yard of the Asia Tower hosts a majestic magnolia tree. When it’s in full bloom, it completely transforms the corporate atmosphere, lighting up the entire neighborhood with its beauty.
7. Seoul Forest
Hangul: 서울숲
Address: 685-20 Seongsu-dong 1(il)-ga Seongdong-gu Seoul
Naver Map: Link
If you want to escape the urban concrete and lose yourself in nature, Seoul Forest is the place to be. This massive park is famous for its cherry blossom paths, but it also hides some of the most photogenic magnolia spots in the city!

For the best view, head toward the Skate Park area. Nearby, you’ll find a cute cluster of magnolia trees planted closely together. Unlike a single lone tree, this grouping creates a dense, snowy effect that looks incredible in photos. It’s the perfect spot to set up a picnic blanket and enjoy the spring breeze while white petals drift down around you. Since it’s located in the trendy Seongsu-dong area, you can easily grab a coffee nearby and head into the park for a floral stroll!

Seoul’s magnolia season may be brief, but it is undeniably one of the most beautiful times to explore the city. These ivory blooms bring a unique sense of elegance that perfectly bridges the gap between the end of winter and the arrival of cherry blossoms. I already cannot wait for spring to come again so I can head back out and discover even more magnolia spots—because I truly believe there are many more of these “white cloud” gems hidden in the quiet corners of this city. Until then, make sure to mark your calendars for late March and get your cameras ready!
