The Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival stands as one of Korea’s grandest and most renowned spring celebrations. Annually hosted in Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo district, this mesmerizing display of flowers captivates both locals and tourists alike.
In the spring of 2021, when the country still grappled with pandemic restrictions, the cherry blossom sightseeing event in Yeouido was unfortunately limited and not accessible to the general public. However, as a participant in the Global Seoul Mate program, organized by the Seoul Tourism Organization that year, I had the privilege of being invited to capture the enchanting moment of the blooming flowers at the festival. The images featured in this post are the result of that special collaboration, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity! Although an unexpected circumstance arose—the cherry trees shed their petals sooner than predicted—the sight of a long carpet of pink cherry blossoms was truly captivating and made the experience all the more unforgettable.
