Good News Café And More: A Hidden Gem for Spring Flowers in Seoul

We are in the last week of March, and Seoul is beautifully undergoing its annual spring magic. While the famous cherry blossoms are still shyly budding, the magnolias have stepped up to take center stage! If you are visiting the city this week, you will likely notice white “popcorns” of magnolia flowers popping up at every corner—including right here at Good News Café And More.

It didn’t take long after hearing the news of the magnolias blooming at this cool, hipster hideaway for me to grab my camera and head out. I visited just yesterday, and the experience was so dreamy I had to share it with you all immediately.

About Good News Café And More

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, Good News Café And More (굿뉴스 카페앤모어) is a hidden gem that perfectly captures the “vintage-industrial” aesthetic Seoul does so well. Housed in a repurposed multi-story building, the cafe balances rustic charm with a modern, creative energy. With its exposed brick, weathered wood accents, and large windows, it feels like a cozy sanctuary for local artists, digital nomads, and coffee enthusiasts alike. It’s the kind of place where time seems to slow down—a “good news” haven in the middle of a bustling metropolis.

Visiting in the Peak of Spring

Beyond the vintage vibes the shop offers year-round, the outdoor yard features a magnificent, mature magnolia tree. This tree is a local celebrity; it stands as tall as the two-to-three-story structure next door. When peak bloom arrives, it’s easy to see why this spot captivates so much attention. The tree erupts into a massive, snowy cloud of petals that contrasts beautifully against the cafe’s dark, rustic exterior. It creates a natural canopy of white that feels almost ethereal, turning a simple coffee break into a full-blown botanical experience.

The second-floor terrace is the magical photo spot that every visitor aims for. Imagine soaking up the warm morning sunlight with a good cup of joe in your hand and a huge, blooming magnolia cloud right before your eyes. The viral photos you’ve likely seen online of cafe-goers relaxing in patio furniture underneath these floral canopies? They were taken right here.

Pro Photo Tip: Look for the balcony area situated behind a pair of rustic indigo doors with pretty chiseled glass windows. Have your friend stay behind the doors and take your photo through the glass while you pose on the terrace in front of the flowers. The layered, vintage effect is absolutely stunning!

The Feline Residents

I have to confess: I almost made the magnolias the secondary reason for my visit once I learned the cafe is home to three adorable cats! There is a friendly orange tabby, a white-and-orange mix, and one that is almost entirely white. During the warmer spring days, you’ll find them running around the yard or lounging in the cute little houses the owners placed right underneath the magnolia tree.

A word of caution: Don’t leave your belongings unattended on the table! The curious little orange feline is known to conduct thorough inspections of bags and cameras.

What to Order

The menu here is a well-curated balance of classic staples and bold “Premium Desserts.”

☕ The Coffee Experience

The cafe offers three distinct blends for their Americanos (5.0KW) and Lattes (5.5KW):

  • BiBiCi NEWS BLEND: Nutty and chocolatey with low acidity.
  • CiNN NEWS BLEND: Bright, floral, and citrusy notes (tangerine/orange).
  • BED NEWS DECAF: A perfect caffeine-free option for late afternoons.

Signature Pick: The Einspanner (6.3KW). Choose a Latte base for a rich treat or a Cold Brew base for a cleaner finish, both topped with their signature thick, velvety cream.

🥐 Signature Scones & Desserts

  • Plain Scone (4.3KW): Unique because it’s made with mascarpone cheese for extra richness.
  • Classic Basque Cheesecake (8.5KW): A “Recommended” item featuring a burnt, caramelized exterior and a gooey center.
  • Matcha White-Choco Scone (4.3KW): A great balance of earthy bitterness and sweet white chocolate.

🥘 Savory Bites (Served 2:30 PM – 9:00 PM)

If you’re visiting for a late-afternoon snack or a light dinner, try the Rose Tteokbokki (19.0KW), a creamy fusion dish topped with “snow cheese,” or the Mala Tuna Dip & Nacho Chips (11.0KW) for a spicy, unique kick.

When to Catch the Peak

Magnolias in Korea generally reach their peak from late March to early April. I visited on March 26th and caught them at their absolute prime. Seeing those heavy white petals against a crisp, clear blue sky was breathtaking. I highly recommend planning your visit for the last week of March to see them before they start to carpet the ground.

How to Get There

Finding this floral oasis is quite simple. Good News Café And More is located just a short walk from Namyeong Station (Line 1). Take Exit 1 and walk about 344 meters (roughly 5 minutes). The cafe’s distinctive vintage exterior and the towering magnolia tree in the yard make it hard to miss!

Final Verdict

Whether you are a flower hunter, a dedicated “cat person,” or just someone in search of a truly excellent cup of coffee, Good News Café And More is a must-visit during the Seoul spring. There is something deeply peaceful about sitting under a canopy of white blossoms while a curious orange cat wanders by. It’s a reminder that even in a fast-paced city, you can always find a pocket of “good news” if you know where to look.
