Glamping in Gangneung – FourSky Glamping

Glamping or glamorous camping, a new form of camping may seem like an alien idea for tent enthusiasts. But it has for some times become one of the most popular recreational activity in Korea.

There are many glamping sites throughout the country that provide everything so their guests could get the full experience of the great outdoors without sacrificing any creature comforts of civilization.

Unlike other camping grounds, Foursky glamping (포스카이글램핑), located in Gangneung, the most famous beach city on the east coast, offers visitors the unique chance to take in the scenery of Sacheonjin Beach (사천진 해수욕장) spreads within a walking distance. My friends and I spent an amazing night glamping here during the Chuseok holiday (Korean Thanksgiving) last September.

This comfortable resort-like destination has two different kind of accommodations; caravans and glamping houses. We were a group of six so we booked 2 glamping houses which are liveable spacious capsules.

The curved shape of the house creates a cozy cave-like feel. Each pod is fully furnished, featuring underfloor heating that will take the chill off the colder nights. They have a snug bed wet room installed inside, featuring a heated shower, flushing toilet and hand basin.

Also, private porch area in front of each house allows you to enjoy the fun moment of BBQ dining with all cooking utensils and crockery prepared. And that my friend we did not forget to stop by an E-mart on the way to purchase some fresh ingredients for our BBQ dinner. Fourskyglamping site can also cather you BBQ dining if you ask them to but your plate may not as diversified as you pick it out yourself.

The weather in Gangneung is generally temperate but on the day of our visit which was in the second week of September, it was pretty chilly and drizzling a lot after dinner. This did not bother us in fact it kinda put us at ease basking in the rainy ambiance inside the very cozy vessel next to the beach. We had no problem falling right to sleep. That for sure helped us waking up feeling energized and couldn’t be more ready to explore the city which I’ll share what we did ate and saw in the next post of ‘What to do in Gangneung’.

*Latest Update: Fourskyglamping has been renamed ‘Base Camp Glamping’
