I’m not exactly sure when it happened, but it couldn’t have been more than a few years ago when I started seeing these stunning pictures of Eunpyeong Hanok Village covered in colorful cosmos flowers popping up all over the internet. Ever since then, I’ve been itching to go back to the village and witness those beautiful early autumn scenes once again. And this year, I can’t believe I actually managed to make it happen! Thanks to the long Chuseok holiday we had, I finally got to plan a trip to capture my all-time favorite Korean traditional village at its absolute best. In this post, I’m super excited to share all the fantastic moments I had and offer some helpful tips in case you’re thinking of visiting Eunpyeong Hanok Village during the same time!
Cosmos Season in Korea:
Korea is home to two main types of cosmos flowers that you’re likely to come across: garden cosmos and sulfur cosmos. Garden cosmos show off a beautiful mix of colors, with delicate pinks, pristine whites, and regal purples. On the flip side, sulfur cosmos bursts with sunny yellows and warm oranges. What’s really cool is that these two types of cosmos have their own blooming schedule. Around mid-September, you’ll see the country bathed in orange as the sulfur cosmos takes the spotlight. Then, as October kicks in, it’s time for the pinkish cosmos to take over, painting the whole nation in pretty pastel shades!

How Long Do the Blooms Stick Around?
The lifespan of cosmos flowers and how long they stay vibrant can vary due to factors like growing conditions, weather, and care. From what I’ve seen, typically, cosmos flowers in Korea grace us with their beauty for about 2-3 weeks or sometimes even a bit longer after they’ve fully blossomed.
Cosmos Flowers at Eunpyeong Hanok Village:
In Eunpyeong Hanok Village, it’s the garden cosmos that takes center stage! During my recent visit on September 30th, these flowers were in full bloom, adorning the entire village with vibrant shades of hot pink, sweet purple, and pure white petals.
