Introducing to Hangang River Light Show (Drone Light Show):

This incredible spectacle was initially featured as one of the main attractions during Seoul Festa 2023, the city’s grandest cultural festival, held in spring this year over eight lively days. The event proved to be a resounding success, with attendees falling in love with the mesmerizing drone light displays that graced the festival. Given its overwhelming popularity, the Seoul metropolitan government decided to reintroduce this fantastic performance in the latter half of the year, during the enchanting autumn months. This time around, they’re amping up the amazement factor with even more drones and additional rounds of captivating displays!

    Performance Schedule:

During this time around, you can enjoy the performance on the following dates: September 8, 15, and 22, as well as October 1, 6, 13, 20, and 27. Initially, the dates were scheduled for every Friday over a span of nearly two months, with the exception of September 29th, which falls during the national holiday, Chuseok. To make up for this, an additional performance on Sunday, October 1, has been added during the first week of October.

You can catch this dazzling event at the familiar riverside stage of Ttukseom Hangang Park (뚝섬한강공원 수변무대) in Seoul’s Gwangjin-gu, just as it was in the first half of the year.

    Getting There:

Reaching the staging area is a breeze via the subway. Simply hop on Line 7 and alight at Ttukseom Park Station (뚝섬유원지역), then take Exit 2 for easy access.

    Drone Show Times:

Each night features just one mesmerizing drone show, but it’s worth the brief wait. The performance kicks off at 8 PM and lasts approximately 10 minutes, primarily due to battery constraints. However, to keep you entertained in the lead-up, expect a lively and culturally enriching atmosphere with bustling pre-show performances starting as early as 7 PM.

    Drone Show Themes:

One of the most exciting aspects of the drone light show is that each night brings a fresh and unique theme to the skies. To give you a taste, the shows on September 8th, 15th, and 22nd were dedicated to themes like Seoul Night Tours, Jazz Night, and Dream World, in that order. And the excitement doesn’t stop there – stay tuned for upcoming themes for the remaining performances!

    Is There an Entrance Fee?

Absolutely not! This event is completely free of charge!

    Additional Tips:

🦟 Dress Smartly: Expect some pesky mosquitoes, so consider wearing long-sleeved attire and pants or bring along insect repellent. Since October evenings can get chilly, it’s also a good idea to bring a warm wrap.

🕗 Early Arrival Pays Off: To secure a fantastic view and avoid the crowds, aim to arrive early.

🧺 Comfy Picnic Essentials: If you come ahead of time, bring a picnic mat not only to reserve your spot in the event’s designated area but also to make your wait more comfortable.

🎆 Stay for the Fireworks: Don’t rush away after the drone show! Stick around for a brief but dazzling fireworks display by the riverside.

🚇 Beat the Post-Show Rush: Brace yourself for post-show crowds and busy transportation. To avoid the congestion and long lines at Ttukseom Park Station exits 2 and 3, consider using exits 1 and 4 on the opposite side of the street. Alternatively, if you’d like to escape the Line 7 rush, take a leisurely walk to the nearby Konkuk University Station (건대입구역) to catch Line 2.

☔ Weather Advisory: Keep in mind that the show is subject to change or cancellation based on weather conditions. For instance, the September 15th show was canceled due to rain.
