There is something extra special about enjoying a cup of coffee when Seoul is dressed in its beautiful autumn colors. Imagine settling into a cozy window seat, sipping your favorite latte, and watching golden ginkgo leaves or fiery red maple trees sway gently outside. Sounds like the perfect autumn afternoon, doesn’t it?
One of my favorite things about exploring Seoul during fall is discovering cafés that offer more than just good coffee. Some are tucked away in the mountains, surrounded by beautiful autumn foliage, while others overlook historic palace grounds, charming streets, or little neighborhood gardens transformed by the season.
And the best part? You don’t always have to spend hours hiking or wandering around to enjoy Seoul’s autumn scenery. Sometimes, all you need is a lovely café, a window seat, and a little time to slow down.
If you’re looking for beautiful cafés in Seoul where you can enjoy the fall foliage, here are seven places worth adding to your autumn itinerary!
1. Cafe Relax (옥류헌릴렉스)

If there’s one café that deserves a special place on your autumn café-hopping list, it’s Cafe Relax in Ui-dong. Located near the foothills of Bukhansan Mountain in northern Seoul, this beautiful café is practically surrounded by nature.
Unlike the typical urban cafés you find in central Seoul, Cafe Relax feels like a little escape into the countryside. Its spacious grounds, charming architecture, outdoor seating areas, and large windows create an atmosphere where you can fully appreciate the changing seasons.
Autumn is particularly spectacular here. The surrounding mountainside transforms into a beautiful combination of red, orange, and golden foliage, making the café feel like it’s nestled right in the middle of an autumn forest.
One of my favorite things about Cafe Relax is that there are several different areas to explore. Don’t just settle for the first available seat! Head towards the annex café area (별관카페), where you’ll find beautiful panoramic windows overlooking the colorful mountainside. The outdoor terrace is another lovely spot to enjoy the crisp autumn air while admiring the scenery.
Why visit in autumn: Beautiful mountain foliage, forest-like surroundings, panoramic windows, and outdoor terrace seating.
Getting there: Take the Ui-Sinseol Line to Bukhansan Ui Station (북한산우이역), Exit 1. From there, it’s approximately a 10-minute uphill walk.

2. Coffee Lusso, Jeongdong Branch

Jeongdong is one of my favorite neighborhoods to explore during autumn. Known for its historic architecture, beautiful stone-wall streets, and proximity to Deoksugung Palace, the entire neighborhood becomes especially charming when the trees turn golden.
And what better way to enjoy this lovely neighborhood than stopping by Coffee Lusso’s Jeongdong Branch?
Located along Jeongdong-gil, Coffee Lusso is a stylish specialty coffee shop with a spacious interior and a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a wonderful place to take a break after exploring the surrounding historic streets and admiring the autumn foliage.
The café is known for its specialty coffee, hand-drip selections, and brunch menu, making it a great choice whether you’re stopping by for a quick caffeine fix or planning a leisurely afternoon.
While the café itself is a lovely place to unwind, the real highlight is its location. Step outside and you’ll find yourself in one of Seoul’s most picturesque historic neighborhoods, especially during the autumn season.
I would recommend pairing your coffee stop with a stroll along Jeongdong-gil and the beautiful Deoksugung Stone-wall Road. The combination of historic buildings, colorful trees, and charming streets makes this area a wonderful destination for autumn photography.
Why visit in autumn: A cozy specialty coffee stop in one of Seoul’s prettiest historic neighborhoods.
Getting there: A short walk from City Hall Station (시청역), with easy access to Jeongdong-gil and Deoksugung Palace.

3. Botong Gongwon (보통공원)

For something a little different from the mountain-view cafés, let’s head over to Mangwon-dong!
Botong Gongwon is a charming little café in Mapo-gu, located close to Mangwon Market and Mangwon Station. Situated on the third floor of a building, this café offers a cozy atmosphere with warm wooden interiors and lovely natural light.
What I particularly like about cafés like this is their relaxed neighborhood feeling. Rather than visiting a large destination café, you can enjoy a slower afternoon in a comfortable space while watching the changing scenery outside.
Botong Gongwon is especially known for its seasonal fruit desserts, including its beautifully prepared fruit sandwiches (후르츠 산도). Pair one with a cup of coffee for a delightful afternoon treat!
The café’s window-side seating is particularly appealing, allowing plenty of natural light into the space. While this isn’t a traditional mountain or panoramic foliage-view café, it’s a lovely option for anyone who enjoys a cozy café atmosphere during autumn.
I would also recommend combining your visit with a little exploration of Mangwon-dong. Browse the local shops, visit Mangwon Market, and discover the neighborhood’s many independent cafés and eateries.
Why visit in autumn: Warm wooden interiors, natural window light, seasonal fruit desserts, and a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere.
Getting there: Near Mangwon Station (망원역), with the café located at 79 Mangwon-ro, 3rd floor.

4. Staff Picks (스태프픽스)

If you’re a fan of golden ginkgo trees, Staff Picks should definitely be on your autumn café list!
Located in the charming Seochon neighborhood near Gyeongbokgung Palace, Staff Picks is a lovely café and concept store with a beautiful courtyard. Its biggest attraction during autumn is the large ginkgo tree in the outdoor garden, which turns a gorgeous shade of golden yellow.
The courtyard is the heart of the café, offering a lovely outdoor setting where you can enjoy your coffee surrounded by seasonal scenery. When the ginkgo leaves reach their peak, the entire space takes on a magical golden glow.
Beyond the beautiful garden, Staff Picks also has a unique character thanks to its curated interior, vintage-inspired decorative pieces, and lifestyle goods. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a cup of coffee, browse interesting little objects, and take a few photographs along the way.
I’d especially recommend visiting on a sunny autumn morning when the golden leaves catch the sunlight. If you want to secure one of the coveted outdoor seats, arriving early is a good idea!
Why visit in autumn: A beautiful golden ginkgo tree, charming courtyard seating, and a photogenic concept-store atmosphere.
Getting there: Located at 22 Sajik-ro 9-gil, Jongno-gu, within walking distance of Gyeongbokgung Station (경복궁역).

5. Camel Coffee (카멜커피)

Camel Coffee’s Hyoja-ro branch is another lovely café to include in your autumn exploration of central Seoul.
Located across from Gyeongbokgung Palace’s Yeongchumun Gate, this café occupies a renovated building with a warm and stylish interior. Its location makes it particularly convenient for anyone exploring Gyeongbokgung Palace and the surrounding Seochon neighborhood.
One of the things that makes this location special is its connection to the historic streetscape. During autumn, the surrounding palace walls and tree-lined streets become especially beautiful, creating a wonderful setting for a leisurely coffee break.
The café has seating across two floors, and I’d suggest checking out the upstairs area if you can. The windows provide a lovely perspective of the surrounding streets, making it a pleasant place to sit and watch the neighborhood go by.
Of course, you shouldn’t leave without trying one of Camel Coffee’s signature drinks. The café is particularly well known for its creamy signature coffee, while its Heritage Coffee and matcha selections are also worth exploring.
My recommendation? Grab a coffee, find a comfortable seat, and then head out for an autumn stroll around Gyeongbokgung Palace and Seochon.
Why visit in autumn: A stylish café near Gyeongbokgung Palace, lovely neighborhood views, and a great coffee stop during an autumn walk.
Getting there: Located at 31 Hyoja-ro, Jongno-gu, near Gyeongbokgung Palace’s Yeongchumun Gate.

6. Monbrew (몽브루)

For another beautiful mountain-view café in northern Seoul, Monbrew is well worth the journey.
Located along 4.19-ro in Gangbuk-gu, Monbrew sits in the vicinity of 4.19 Memorial Park, an area known for its beautiful natural surroundings and proximity to Bukhansan Mountain.
The café’s large windows are one of its biggest attractions. Rather than looking out onto busy city streets, you’ll be treated to beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and trees.
Autumn is arguably one of the best seasons to visit. As the foliage changes color, the mountain scenery becomes a beautiful backdrop for your coffee break. The higher seating areas are particularly appealing if you’re hoping to enjoy a wider view of the surrounding landscape.
Monbrew also has a cozy, modern interior that makes it a lovely place to spend a little extra time. Whether you’re visiting with friends or simply looking for somewhere to enjoy a quiet afternoon, it’s a wonderful addition to your northern Seoul café itinerary.
Don’t forget to explore the surrounding 4.19 Memorial Park area, too. Combining a café visit with a walk through the nearby streets is a lovely way to make the most of the autumn scenery.
Why visit in autumn: Mountain views, large windows, colorful surrounding trees, and a peaceful atmosphere.
Getting there: Located at 105, 4.19-ro, Gangbuk-gu. Suyu Station (수유역) is the nearest major Line 4 station; a taxi is a convenient option from there.

7. Cafe Darak (카페다락)

Last but certainly not least, Cafe Darak at Jeongdong Observatory is one of my favorite recommendations for enjoying autumn scenery in central Seoul.
Situated on the 13th floor of the Seosomun Building, Jeongdong Observatory offers a wonderful elevated view over the historic Jeongdong neighborhood. And when autumn arrives, the scenery becomes particularly beautiful.
From the observatory, you can look down over Deoksugung Palace, its surrounding historic buildings, and the beautiful tree-lined streets. The autumn foliage along Deoksugung Stone-wall Road is especially lovely when the ginkgo and maple trees turn golden yellow and vibrant red.
Inside the observatory, you’ll find Cafe Darak, a small café where you can enjoy coffee, tea, and other refreshments while taking in the panoramic view.
What makes this place particularly special is that you can enjoy the changing autumn scenery from above, offering a completely different perspective from walking along the palace walls below.
I would highly recommend visiting on a clear day, when the visibility is good and the autumn colors are easy to appreciate. Try to secure a window seat if possible, as these are undoubtedly the best spots in the observatory!
Why visit in autumn: Elevated views of Deoksugung Palace, colorful palace gardens, and the beautiful autumn scenery of historic Jeongdong.
Getting there: Jeongdong Observatory is located on the 13th floor of the Seosomun Building at 15 Deoksugung-gil, Jung-gu. Take the dedicated elevator No. 3. The nearest subway station is City Hall Station (시청역), Exit 12.

Tips for Enjoying Seoul’s Autumn Cafés
Before heading out on your autumn café adventure, here are a few things worth keeping in mind.
1. Plan your visit around peak foliage season
Autumn foliage timing varies depending on the weather and location. Generally, late October to early November is a wonderful period to explore Seoul’s autumn scenery. Mountain areas in northern Seoul and the central city can reach their peak at slightly different times, so keep an eye on the seasonal forecasts.
2. Arrive early for the best seats
Some of these cafés are popular destinations during autumn, especially those with outdoor terraces, garden seating, or panoramic windows. If you’re hoping to get the perfect window seat or photograph the scenery without too many people around, weekday mornings are usually a good choice.
3. Check the weather before visiting
Clear, sunny days are ideal for enjoying autumn views. The sunlight makes golden ginkgo leaves and colorful maple trees look even more beautiful, while cloudy or rainy weather can make mountain views less impressive.
4. Don’t forget to explore the surrounding neighborhoods
Some of these cafés are destinations in themselves, but others are best enjoyed as part of a wider autumn walk. Jeongdong, Seochon, Mangwon-dong, and Ui-dong all offer different seasonal experiences, so leave some extra time to explore beyond the café.
Final Thoughts: A Coffee Break With a View
One of the best things about autumn in Seoul is that beautiful seasonal scenery can be found almost everywhere, from mountain foothills and quiet residential neighborhoods to historic palace grounds and little hidden gardens.
And while visiting Seoul’s famous autumn foliage spots is always wonderful, I think there’s something equally special about enjoying the season at a café. It’s an opportunity to slow down, take a break from exploring, and appreciate the beauty of autumn without having to rush anywhere.
Whether you prefer sipping coffee while overlooking a mountain covered in colorful foliage, sitting beneath a golden ginkgo tree, or admiring the historic rooftops of Seoul from above, I hope this list helps you discover your own perfect autumn café.
After all, a beautiful autumn afternoon and a good cup of coffee are always a lovely combination 🍂☕
