The Seoul Coffee Map: 28 Must-Visit Cafes for Your Itinerary

If you think you know Seoul’s cafe culture, think again. While the city has always been a haven for the ‘Instagram-worthy,’ the scene in 2026 has evolved into something much deeper. It’s no longer just about the perfect shot; it’s about the perfect vibe.

Today, Seoul’s coffee shops are masterclasses in ‘Spatial Storytelling.’ You’ll find minimalist sanctuaries in Seongsu, sun-drenched brunch hideaways in Yangcheon, and hidden wine bars that feel like a local secret. Whether you’re a serious bean connoisseur, a brunch lover, or just someone looking for a quiet corner to escape the city’s relentless pace, these spaces offer more than just a caffeine fix—they offer a curated experience. I’ve spent my weekends ‘nitpicking’ the city’s best spots so you don’t have to. Here is my definitive guide to the must-visit coffee places in Seoul.

Jump to:

    1. Green Mile Coffee Bukchon Branch

    Hangul: 그린마일커피 북촌점
    Drink prices: 5,000KRW~6,500KRW

Perched in the heart of the historic Jongno-gu, Green Mile Coffee offers one of the most iconic vantage points in the city. While the interior is sleek and modern, the real draw is the rooftop terrace, where you are greeted by an unobstructed, panoramic view of the Bukchon Hanok Village rooftops. It’s a striking juxtaposition—sipping a precision-brewed coffee while looking out over a sea of traditional tiled giwa roofs. Beyond the architecture, this is a sanctuary for green tea enthusiasts; their signature matcha-based drinks are velvety and rich, pairing effortlessly with what many locals consider the best tiramisu in the district. It’s the ultimate spot to pause and soak in the quiet gravity of Seoul’s cultural heritage.

    2. Check Grow

    Hangul: 채그로
    Drink prices: 6,000KW~9,000KW

For those who believe the best accompaniment to a pour-over is a well-worn book, Check Grow is your ultimate sanctuary. Occupying the top floors of the Arisu Building in Mapo-gu, this multi-level book cafe offers a 360-degree sensory experience. On one side, the expansive Han River stretches toward the horizon; on the other, the golden silhouette of the 63 Building anchors the skyline. The interior is a dreamscape of whimsical wooden staircases and floor-to-ceiling shelves that feel more like a private library than a public cafe. While it’s a photographer’s playground, the true magic happens at golden hour. I highly recommend timing your visit for the late afternoon—watching the city transition into a shimmering dusk from behind a wall of books is a meditative experience that stays with you long after the coffee is gone.

Stepping off the busy streets of Hongdae and into 943 King’s Cross feels less like entering a cafe and more like crossing a portal into another realm. This massive, multi-story tribute to the Wizarding World is an absolute pilgrimage for Potterheads, but even casual fans will be floored by the level of detail. From the floor-to-ceiling wand boxes reminiscent of Ollivander’s to the grand, moody halls that echo the spirit of Hogwarts, every corner is a masterclass in immersive design. Whether you’re representing Gryffindor or Slytherin, you’ll find a cozy nook among the ‘enchanted’ artifacts to enjoy a Butterbeer-inspired treat. The interior is a masterclass in ‘soft industrial’ aesthetics, blending sleek concrete textures with warm, curated accents that make every corner feel like a high-end editorial set. It’s the kind of space that feels effortlessly cool, whether you’re working on a laptop or catching up with friends. While the decor draws you in, the signature Apple Tea (available both iced and hot) is what will make you stay. Hangul: 제이히든하우스
    Drink prices: 6,500KW~8,000KW

Hidden in plain sight amidst the high-octane energy of Dongdaemun, J. Hidden House is a masterclass in architectural preservation. This meticulously restored 1915 hanok offers a serene courtyard escape that feels miles away from the nearby bustling markets. It’s a sanctuary for those who appreciate the quiet elegance of traditional Korean design—think minimalist interiors, clean lines, and the rhythmic beauty of exposed wooden beams. If you’re planning a visit to the futuristic Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP), this is the perfect historical counterpoint; located just a short stroll away, it offers a rare moment of stillness where you can recharge with a high-quality brew before diving back into the city’s pace.

    Hangul: 스타벅스 서울웨이브아트센터점
    Drink prices: 4,000KW~8,500KW

While Seoul is home to countless Starbucks branches, none quite compare to the experience of the Seoul Wave Art Center. Floating gracefully on the surface of the Han River, this ‘floating cafe’ offers a coffee break like no other—complete with a gentle, rhythmic ‘wobble’ that reminds you you’re literally on the water. The floor-to-ceiling glass walls turn the cafe into a massive viewing deck, providing a panoramic gaze at the glistening river and the distant, majestic silhouette of N Seoul Tower. It’s a striking piece of modern architecture that feels both quirky and serene. Pro-tip: Aim for a seat on the second floor just before sunset; watching the city lights begin to shimmer across the water while sipping your latte is a quintessential Seoul moment.

    Drink prices: 5,000KW~6,500KW

Nestled in the vibrant Sharosu-gil food street, Ongozisin is a masterclass in geometric harmony. The cafe’s most striking features are its two massive circular windows—architectural portals that flood the space with soft, natural light and offer a framed view of the neighborhood’s character. Inside, the design strikes a perfect balance between ‘industrial cool’ and ‘organic warmth,’ featuring raw brick walls and high ceilings grounded by earthy, custom wooden furniture. It’s a space that feels both ancient and cutting-edge, echoing its name (which refers to ‘learning from the old to understand the new’). Whether you’re there for the curated tea selection or the striking symmetry of the interior, it’s a destination that rewards the observant traveler with more than just a great photo.

    Hangul: 스타벅스 파미에파크R점
    Drink prices: 4,000KW~8,500KW

If the Seoul Wave branch is about the water, the Famille Park branch in Seocho-gu is all about the sky. Housed within a stunning glass dome at the heart of Shinsegae Central City, this flagship location feels less like a coffee shop and more like a soaring urban conservatory. The design draws heavy inspiration from the grand, neoclassical architecture of New York’s Grand Central Station, but with a modern, ethereal twist. Suspended from the high glass ceiling is a breathtaking installation of stark white seagulls, frozen in mid-flight against the sky. As sunlight streams through the dome, the shadows of the birds dance across the wood-paneled interior, creating a whimsical, airy atmosphere that offers a moment of high-design escapism for travelers and coffee lovers alike.

    Hangul: 테라로사 포스코센터점
    Drink prices: 5,300KW~10,000KW

While Terarosa originated as a specialty roasting powerhouse in the coastal city of Gangneung, its POSCO Center branch in Gangnam is arguably its most ambitious architectural feat. Spanning two massive floors, the design pays homage to its host—POSCO—by masterfully integrating galvanized steel into the interior aesthetic. However, the coldness of the metal is perfectly balanced by a staggering collection of over 10,000 books that line the walls, creating a grand, library-esque atmosphere. The centerpiece is a wide, tiered seating staircase that encourages you to linger, making it a premier destination for those who appreciate the marriage of industrial strength and intellectual warmth. It is, without a doubt, one of the most sophisticated spaces to enjoy a world-class pour-over in the city.

    Drink prices: 4,600KW~5,800KW

A heavy hitter in the Korean specialty coffee scene, Fritz Coffee Company has built a cult following by masterfully blending ‘K-retro’ nostalgia with world-class roasting. While all their locations are iconic, the Wonseo branch—nestled within the Arario Museum grounds near Anguk—is particularly breathtaking. Housed in a traditional hanok that shares a courtyard with modern art galleries, it offers a striking visual dialogue between old and new. Despite its popularity, the space maintains a remarkably grounded and ‘chill’ atmosphere. Whether you’re sitting on the stone steps with a signature pain au chocolat or enjoying a meticulously brewed pour-over under the tiled eaves, Fritz offers a quintessential Seoul experience where craft coffee meets the city’s artistic soul.

Through its expansive panoramic windows, you can catch glimpses of the shimmering, futuristic Coex Mall—a striking reminder of the high-speed city that exists just outside the temple walls. The tea house itself remains an oasis of calm, with a front yard anchored by two magnificent, fully grown lilacs that perfume the air during the spring. It is a space where traditional Korean tea culture meets modern architectural vistas, making it an essential stop for anyone looking to experience the quiet, spiritual side of Seoul without leaving the city center. Located in Seoul’s tranquil northeastern outskirts, this cafe is an architectural tribute to the hanok style, featuring soaring wooden beams and intricate craftsmanship that feel both heritage-inspired and modern. If you’re looking for the most vibrant spot in the city, Seoul Angmusae is impossible to miss. Known for its bright, multi-colored exterior and iconic parrot logo, this cafe has been a viral sensation since the day it opened. It perfectly captures the creative, high-energy spirit of Seongsu-dong, but the brand has become such a hit that they’ve expanded to a massive new flagship in Yongsan (Yongnidan-gil) and even a scenic spot on Jeju Island.

While the “photo walls” at each location are a classic stop, the real draw is the staggering selection of pastries—specifically their famous Queen Amanns and rolls. One of the best parts of the experience is that you can grab colorful markers to doodle on your dessert plates, making every visit a little bit personal. Whether you’re exploring the original Seongsu hub or the spacious new Yongsan outlet, it’s a high-energy staple that proves some trends are definitely worth the hype.

Inside, the vibe is ultra-sleek and dark, with glowing screens and rain-themed pastries that look like tiny pieces of art. It’s incredibly cinematic to sit in a cozy, black-toned corner and watch the rain fall while you’re totally dry inside. The space is filled with dark wood, old vinyl records, and cozy mezzanine seating that’s seen decades of students and artists pass through. It’s famous for its signature cream cheese cake—which comes served in a cute raindrop shape with blueberry or orange jam—and their classic hand-drip coffee. Hidden away on the second floor of a traditional building in the heart of Insadong, Jidaebang feels like a quiet sanctuary from the neighborhood’s busy tourist crowds. It has been a staple of the area for over thirty years, keeping the spirit of a classic Korean teahouse alive with its rustic wooden beams, low seating, and windows overlooking the street below. Instead of a standard latte, you’ll find deep, rich traditional teas like Omija or Ssanghwa-cha, often served with complimentary snacks like toasted rice cakes. The walls are covered in decades’ worth of handwritten notes from travelers and locals alike, giving the space a cozy, lived-in warmth that makes you want to turn off your phone and just soak in the nostalgia.

    Drink prices: 6,000KW~8,500KW

Stylenanda Pink Pool Cafe is a total sensory explosion of pastel pink, located right on the top floor of the iconic Pink Hotel flagship in Myeongdong. Designed to look like a retro, 1950s hotel pool in the middle of a Wes Anderson movie, the space is decked out with neon signs, kitschy poolside tiles, and even an outdoor rooftop area with giant pink pillows. It’s the kind of place where the drinks are just as playful as the decor—think fluffy cotton candy lattes and colorful slushies that look perfect against the velvet chairs. Whether you’re a fan of the brand or just want to escape the gray city streets for a bubblegum-colored dream world, it’s a high-energy, quirky staple of the Myeongdong shopping district.

AB Cafe brings a massive slice of tropical paradise right to the steep streets of Gangnam. Stepping inside feels like you’ve caught a flight to Bali, with four floors decked out in rattan furniture, bamboo accents, and lush greenery that completely mask the city’s concrete hustle. It’s a huge, sprawling space with different themed “zones,” ranging from breezy terraces to cozy, wood-heavy hideaways that feel like a jungle resort. Cafe MINNIM (permanently closed and replaced by 시샘달 아뜰리에)

    Hangul: 민님카페
    Drink prices: 4,500KW~9,000KW

Cafe Minnim in a lively area around Sungshin Women’s University is a small but stunning cafe that combines traditional Korean architecture with modern design. It is an ideal spot for a relaxing afternoon with friends or a solo getaway. The café’s serene atmosphere, coupled with its breathtaking Hanok design, makes it a perfect place for taking Instagram-worthy photos. Moreover, the café also features a small gallery space showcasing local artists and photographers, making it an excellent spot for art lovers as well.

    Cafe 58.4 (permanently closed)

    Hangul: 성북동과일카페 58.4
    Drink prices: 4,000KW~8,000KW

Cafe 58.4 is one of the prettiest and most unique cafes I’ve ever visited in Seongbuk District in the mid-north part of Seoul. The cafe not only sells an array of fresh fruits, but also provides delicious homemade fruity beverages and desserts. However, none of these are the highlights which you can experience on the cafe’s higher ground: the stunning view of a nearby Hanok village. And this viewing space on the second floor is also set to become even more photogenic in the summer months with plants and flowers decorations, adding a natural and vibrant touch to the already beautiful environment.

Seoulism (No Longer Run as a Cafe)

    Hangul: 서울리즘
    Drink prices: 8,000KW~17,000KW

It would be a real blunder to not include Seoulism into this list. The cafe boasts a number of highlights sure to impress any Instagram enthusiast. Firstly, it offers a stunning view of the iconic Lotte World Tower, providing the perfect backdrop for a memorable photo. Secondly, the SEOUL sign located on the rooftop terrace area is unmissable for snapping a picture and capturing the essence of the city. Finally, the cafe’s seasonal decorations add a unique touch to the already beautiful space, making it a must-visit destination no matter the time of year.

    Mamma Dosan (permanently closed)

    Hangul: 맘마미아 도산
    Drink prices: 5,500KW~8,500KW

If you’re looking for a cafe that’s going to blow up your Instagram feed with pink, Mamma Dosan in Apgujeong is where it’s at! This cafe is the definition of eye-catching, with a hot pink bricked exterior that’s impossible to miss. Inside, you will be basked in a whimsical and charming atmosphere of the flowers adorned interior which would make you feel like you’ve just stepped into a dreamy wonderland.

    Greem Cafe (permanently closed)

    Hangul: 그림카페
    Drink prices: 5,000KW~6,800KW

Another righteous cafe to earn its place on this list, Greem Cafe in Mapo-gu is indubitably a must visit for anyone looking for a unique design of a coffee place. The café has a distinct 2-dimensional design, making it appear as though its interior and decor have been lifted straight out of a cartoon or comic book. Its furniture, walls, floors, and ceilings are all made up with intricate patterns and optical illusions that create a playful and surreal atmosphere, which is pretty hard to exclude when exploring the area.

Cafe MOLTO (permanently closed and replaced by PINES)

    Hangul: 몰또 이탈리안 에스프레소바
    Drink prices: 4,000KW~8,000KW

Nestled in the bustling heart of Seoul on the 3rd floor of the PAGE Myeongdong building, Cafe Molto stands directly opposite the iconic Myeong-dong Cathedral. Beyond its reputation as a stellar coffee spot, Cafe Molto exudes a touch of European elegance. Savor your espresso accompanied by delectable croissants, all while enjoying a panoramic view that includes the grand Seoul Tower. Believe me, capturing a moment from the cafe’s terrace will add a touch of sophistication to your memories!
